Endangered
Many species of tigers are endangered, but Sumatran tigers are the most endangered. Their habitat is being destroyed for growing palm oil for the production of cookies and toilet paper. So this painting is about them and their environment.
I am hoping that this painting will influence people's thinking and affect decisions they are making right now about what species are worth saving and what are not. We have to decide if greed is going to win out or if we are going to save at least some of our magnificent fellow species. And, isn’t our species also endangered?
The drama in this painting is really between the viewer and the subjects. The Tigers and my family and I are pleading with the viewer to just think about how our decisions are going to determine which species survive and which do not. I'm holding a paintbrush toward the viewers, painting them into the work.
