The Mirrored Hall of Versailles

Elevator Painting – Commissioned by Marty Fine

Bleeker Renaissance Building, NYC

I painted a gestural impression of The Mirrored Hall of Versailles on the walls, ceiling, and door of the elevator while passengers were traveling up and down. My goal was to create such an illusion of depth that passengers would bump their noses on the back wall, while still retaining the beauty of the paint. A wonderful movie was made of me painting this piece. It became a performance piece as well as a painting.
